Danny Dexter
Candidate for Judge, 180th District Court

Danny Dexter, Candidate for Judge, 180th District CourtNative Houstonian Danny Dexter felt a calling to serve his community after a successful career in the private sector.

He left behind lucrative work as an accountant, tax manager, venture capitalist and chief financial officer to attend law school, join the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and fight to keep our families safe. Danny is a St. Thomas High School graduate who attended the University of Texas, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Business Management and a master’s in Professional Accounting. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbie, almost 35 years ago and they raised two children.

After his successful career in the private sector, Danny attended the South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1998. An internship at the District Attorney’s Office that started in 1995 turned into a job as a prosecutor when Danny obtained his law license.

Until 2004, Danny worked in misdemeanor and felony courts trying cases and working to safeguard Harris County. Through his work in the Trial Bureau handling cases, Danny developed a reputation for fairness, maturity and dedication. Danny, who also attended the National College of District Attorneys, always followed the law, the rules and his heart. Danny left the District Attorney’s Office in 2004 to begin a private practice. He focused on civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense work in the federal system – knowing that to be a judge he would have to understand the challenges faced by both sides in any case.
