Candidate for Judge, District Judge 280th District
Angelina Gooden, a practicing attorney in Houston, is a Republican currently seeking election to the newly created family law domestic violence bench in Harris County. She has practiced law since 1989, working for both private law firms and in the non-profit sector as a contract attorney with the Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse for 11 consecutive years. She is presently a partner in Gooden and Gooden, with her husband Elijah Gooden.
Angelina is a graduate of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law and a member of the State Bar of Texas. She obtained her Masters of Arts in Urban Affairs and Human Resources from Norfolk State University, and her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.
Angelina is a frequent speaker on protective orders and domestic violence issues and has previously served as a volunteer on the Houston Council on Domestic Violence and is presently a member of the Texas Council on Family Violence. Angelina has represented litigants in all types of family law cases and has often served as an Amicus Attorney and Attorney Ad Litem to protect the interest of children. Throughout her career, Angelina has been appointed by three Harris County Family Law Judges to serve as a Special Master to hear family law cases and has served as a Continuing Legal Education Presenter in family law seminars.
As an active Republican, Angelina has served as a delegate to the Harris County Republican Party Convention and the State Republican Party Convention. Angelina is a member of Daughters of Liberty Republican Women and holds Associate Membership in Yellow Rose of Texas Republican Women, San Jacinto Republican Women, Sister In Spirit Republican Women, Bay Area Republican Women and Village Republican Women. Angelina is a longstanding member of the New Covenant Christian Church, a mother of four and grandmother of two.
