Today, the political world is still coming to
terms with the against-all-odds victory of
Republican Scott Brown
over Democrat Martha Coakley in the battle to
fill Ted Kennedy's United States Senate seat
following his death in August. Brown becomes
the first Republican to be elected to the United
States Senate from Massachusetts since 1972.
Scott Brown's victory takes away the Democrats'
crucial 60th vote
in the Senate and, along with it, the ability to
pass legislation without a filibuster, which
puts the Obama takeover of health care in danger
and provides Republicans a real opportunity to
stop this bad legislation in its tracks. With
public opinion soundly against Obamacare,
Republicans, with the Brown victory, have a
solid chance of doing the will of the people.
One of the most heartening aspects of the Brown
victory is its sheer margin-52%
to 47%, which is a clear mandate against
Obamacare specifically and the President's
agenda generally.
Americans have reviewed the first year of a
Barack Obama presidency and their score rang
through loud and clear last night in
Massachusetts, one of the most liberal corners
in America.
My friends, if Republicans can win in
Massachusetts, we can win anywhere! Now is the
time for us to re-energize and re-dedicate our
efforts to win every race
in Harris County and do our part to carry
Republicans across the state to victory.
Your Harris County Republican Party
has a plan for victory
and I look forward to working with each and
every one of you as we implement it alongside my
Harris County Victory 2010 Co-Chairs
Paul Bettencourt
and Gary Polland.
Please join with me
as we begin working towards an historic victory
in November. Take a moment to visit our website

President Obama promised us change...well, now
it's our turn to give him a Texas-sized dose of
it!
