Dear Fellow
Republican,
I was shocked and highly troubled to learn that our Democrat Harris
County Sheriff Adrian Garcia had agreed to open the doors to the
Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) to the Arab media network,
Al-Jazeera. As you probably know, Al-Jazeera has been linked
to Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda, Hamas and numerous other terrorist
organizations committed to the destruction of America and our
allies.
These links are well established and not the stuff of closeted
rumors. Examples include the Al-Jazeera reporter, Tayssir
Alouni, who was jailed and charged in Spain for collaborating with
al-Qaeda.
Even more disturbing is an account that parallels the Harris County
visit, which was reported by Accuracy in Media, that reported,
“Al-Jazeera International made a visit in May to Crosby, North
Dakota, prompting inquiries from the local Sheriff, Lauren Throntvei,
and U.S. Border Patrol. The local paper, the Crosby Journal, quoted
a Border Patrol official as asking, ‘What is the interest of an Arab
news organization in Crosby, North Dakota?’ The paper said that a
U.S. Border Patrol agent asked for the names of the Al-Jazeera
journalists, whether they had been near the border, and their stated
motivations. The agent "said there were potential international
implications to the journalists' visit, on which he could not
elaborate."

Apparently, Sheriff Garcia does not share Sheriff Throntvei’s
suspicions of terrorist-linked media groups.
I cannot sit idly by and let this access happen without comment or
call to action. For that reason, I am urging my fellow Harris
County Republicans to call Sheriff Garcia at
713-755-3647 or 713-755-6044 and voice your concerns.

GOP Chairman Implores Sheriff to Deny Access
Houston—Harris County Republican Party Chairman
Jared Woodfill today implored Harris County
Sheriff Adrian Garcia to deny access to
Al-Jazeera, the Arab media network with ties to
Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda. Woodfill's
comments were in response to reports that Harris
County Sheriff Adrian Garcia had agreed to an
interview this week with the Arab media outlet.
Woodfill commented on his opposition to the
Sheriff's position, saying, "No useful public
safety purpose can be served by unlocking the
doors to the primary law enforcement agency in
Harris County and inviting the al-Qaeda public
relations machine to step inside. Quite to
the contrary, Sheriff Garcia's allowing access inside the Harris County Sheriff's Office only
adds legitimacy to an organization that provides
a forum for terrorists, glorifies suicide
bombers, and quite potentially provides a
communication channel to terrorist cells right
here in the United States."
Woodfill called on his fellow Harris County
Republicans to call the Sheriff at
713-755-3647 or
713-755-6044
and voice their concerns about this important
issue.
