City of Houston Should Cut Ties With ACORN
By: Jared Woodfill
Chairman, Harris County Republican Party

Jared WoodfillDear Harris County Republicans,

I'm sure many of you have seen the video of ACORN workers advising an undercover filmmaker, posing as a pimp, on how he could break federal laws. This was just another episode of unlawful and outrageous behavior we have seen across the country by the partisan organization ACORN.

I have written a letter to Houston Mayor Bill White to encourage him to sever any relationship the city has with ACORN. Below is the full text of the letter I have sent to the Mayor. Please call 713-837-0311 or email: mayor@cityofhouston.net and encourage the Mayor to sever any ties the city has with ACORN.

KRIV FOX 26 Report

September 17, 2009

The Honorable Bill White
Mayor of the City of Houston
P.O. Box 1562
Houston, TX 77251

Dear Mayor White:

As you know, there have been numerous reports of potentially criminal activity involving associates of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now ("ACORN").  It appears that ACORN has breached the public’s trust and used taxpayer resources in a manner that is inconsistent with the law.  On September 11, 2009, the U.S. Census Bureau ended its partnership with ACORN.  I support this decision by the Census Bureau, and encourage you to follow the Census Bureau’s lead and sever all ties to ACORN and its affiliates.  Immediate action is necessary to ensure that no additional tax dollars are directed to ACORN.  Simply put, ACORN should not receive another penny of the American taxpayers' money.  Again, I ask that you use your authority to ensure that all City of Houston funding to ACORN is publicly disclosed and terminated immediately.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Jared Woodfill
