Thousands of you and your fellow residents of Harris County brought your questions and ideas to a meeting in your watershed regarding the 2018 Harris County Flood Control District Bond Program. In order to prepare an effective flood damage reduction program for our region, the HCFCD needed Republicans to show up and give input - and we did in big numbers across the county.
The HCFCD offered the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed bond, and we did not let this opportunity pass us by. Precinct chairs across Harris County promoted attendance to the meeting in their area, participated in voter registration drives, and raised awareness of the proposed bond in their communities. At the events, Republican leaders including Congressman John Culberson, County Judge Ed Emmett, and County Clerk Stan Stanart talked with citizens about the challenges all Harris County residents face in dealing with flooding.
Members of the Harris County GOP Flood Control Task Force Committee continue working to ensure that Republicans take a leading role in helping form the solutions to reduce flood damage in our region. Precinct Chair Kaaren Cambio, a member of the San Jacinto River Authority Board of Directors, is Chair of the committee.
