Judge Diane Bull
Harris County Criminal Court-at-Law No. 11
For the last 15 years, Diane Bull has been the presiding judge of County Criminal Court at Law #11, a Harris County court that hears criminal misdemeanor cases. She is presently up for re-election for a 5th 4-year term for this bench.
Judge Bull is a third generation graduate of Texas A & M University, where she graduated with honors, and thereafter received her J.D. from Baylor Law School. She is married to John Spjut, a retired 28-year veteran of the Houston Police Department, who is now an attorney in private practice. They have three beautiful children, and attend Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Prior to her election to County Criminal Court at Law #11 in November, 1994 as judge, Diane spent five of her twenty five-year legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, and also in Polk County. Thereafter, she represented two law enforcement organizations as their in-house counsel, and had a general civil and criminal practice for several years prior to her election. Judge Bull presently presides over a variety of misdemeanor cases, including domestic assault, illicit drug and D.W.I. charges. She has received media recognition for her tough, innovative sentencing policies, has been awarded "Judge of the Year" several times by local law enforcement groups, and received numerous awards, recognition and honors for her various court-sponsored projects with local charities.
