Tracy
Christopher was appointed to the 14th Court of Appeals by Governor Rick Perry in
December 2009. Tracy Elizabeth Christopher graduated from the University of Notre Dame, with honors in 1978, with a B.A. in economics. She received her J.D. from the University Of Texas School Of Law, with honors, in 1981. She had been the Judge of the 295th District Court since January 1, 1995. Prior to taking the bench she had thirteen years of practice in personal injury and civil litigation, with the law firms of Susman Godfrey and Vinson & Elkins. She is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Personal Injury Law and Civil Trial Law. She has been highly rated by the members of the Houston Bar Association in all of the Judicial Evaluation Polls. She received the Trial Judge of the Year Award from the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists in 2001.As the Judge of the 295th District Court, Judge Christopher has presided over hundreds of jury and non jury trials, and disposed of thousands of cases. In addition to her regular docket, Judge Christopher has been appointed to handle special dockets in both the Second Judicial Region, the Fourth and Fifth Judicial Regions, and statewide. She is currently the Multi District Litigation Judge over the state docket of silica cases. She has also served as a Justice on the First Court of Appeals for several cases and on the Texas Supreme Court.
Judge Christopher is currently the Chair of the Pattern Jury Charge Oversight Committee and is a member of the Supreme Court Advisory Committee. She also serves on two Houston Bar Association Committees. She is also the Civil Administrative Judge for Harris County.
Judge Christopher has been married to Vance Christopher for 28 years. They have three adult children. Judge Christopher currently volunteers for Texas Children’s Hospital and performs in Night Court, a lawyer musical that raises money for the Houston Bar Foundation.
