Judge Pam Derbyshire

Pam Derbyshire is the presiding judge of Harris County Criminal Court at Law #7. Judge Derbyshire is a 1979 graduate of the University of South Florida and 1982 graduate of South Texas College of Law. Judge Derbyshire began her career in 1983 as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. She rose through the DA's office to the level of District Court Chief handling a felony docket and capital murder trials.
In 1990 Judge Derbyshire left the DA's office to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas serving in the financial fraud division. She also spent time in private practice before being elected to the bench in 1998 and re-elected in 2002 and 2006. She was awarded Peace Officer's Looking Into Courthouse Excellence (P.O.L.I.C.E.) Judge of the Year award in 2000 and Houston Police Officer's Union Judge of the Year award in 2002.
Judge Derbyshire has served as chairman of the Pretrial Services Committee, Co-Presiding Judge of the Harris County Criminal Courts, Presiding Judge of the Harris County Criminal Courts, host of The Kinkaid School career development program, guest speaker for the Houston Bar Association. as well as being active in her children’s schools. She has been married since 1983 to John Derbyshire, and they have 3 children.
