Judge Mike Fields
Harris County Criminal Court-at-Law No. 14
Judge Fields attended South West Texas State University in San Marcos,
Texas where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in
1987. From there, he went to St. Mary's University School of Law, where he
received his Doctorate of Juris Prudence in 1991. After Law School, he
joined the Harris County District Attorney's office where he served from
1991 to 1994 before joining the Texas Attorney General's Office in the
Prosecutor Assistance Division.
After serving with the Attorney General's office Mike ran for Judge of County Criminal Court 14 in Harris County on the Republican ticket. Judge Fields won the primary in 1998 and took the bench in 1999. He has remained the Judge of Harris County Criminal Court #14 since that time. Judge Fields has been named the Judge of the Year (2001) by both the Houston Police Officers Union and the Police Officers Looking Into Courthouse Excellence (P.O.L.I.C.E) organization. Judge Fields is also very active in his community. He is the past Chairman of the Harris County Bail Bond Board, which oversees the multi-million dollar Bail Bond industry in Harris County. He has been named as a member of the Century Council's National Judicial Advisory Panel and at the request of the Texas Supreme Court, serves as a member of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct . Additionally, Judge Fields has served on the Board of Trustees of the Lone Star Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Advisory Counsel of the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Clubs, the Board of Directors for Hope for Families. Currently, Judge Fields serves as a Co-Chair of the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Juvenile Detention Alternatives to Incarceration Disproportionate Minority Confinement Committee. Additionally, he is a Silver Lifetime member of the NAACP and an active member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Judge Fields has two daughters and his wife (Karen) of 18 years is a Sergeant with the Houston Police Department.
