Judge Judy Warne, 248th District CourtJudge Judy Warne is a native Houstonian who was born in 1958 and grew up in the Heights in a family of five girls. She is a graduate of University of Saint Thomas and University of Houston Law Center. After practicing family law for 21 years, Governor Perry appointed her as Presiding Judge of the 257th Judicial District Court of Harris County, which is a court with family law jurisdiction. She has been Board Certified in Family Law for 20 years, and has taught family law at South Texas College of Law for 15 years. In 2003, she was named Adjunct Professor of the Year at South Texas. She has been asked to speak at over 30 seminars hosted by the State Bar of Texas, University of Houston Law Center, South Texas College of Law and University of Texas. She is respected by her peers, having been asked to address the annual meetings and conferences of the Texas Center for the Judiciary, and appointed to serve as Chair of the Legislative Committee for the Board of 59 District Court Judges of Harris County. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section and the Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists and has served six years on the State Bar of Texas Family Law Council. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Texas Bar Foundation and the Family Law Foundation. She has consistently received high ratings in the Houston Bar Association Bar Polls. Judge Warne has been a member of the Republican Party Leadership Council for many years, and is a member of Northwest Forest Republican Women and the Harris County Republican Party Speakers’ Bureau.
