Judge Mary Lou Keel
232nd District Court
Judge Keel has presided over the 232nd District Court, a felony trial court,
since 1995. She is board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of
Legal Specialization. She served as an assistant district attorney for
Harris County from 1986 through 1994. Before that she was a briefing
attorney for the First
Court of Appeals. Born and raised in Austin, she graduated from the
University of Texas with a degree in English and moved to Houston to attend
the University of Houston Law Center. She is married to attorney Jim
Hippard, and they have three children who attend Spring Branch ISD schools.
In her spare time, Judge Keel enjoys gardening, reading and snow skiing.
