Judge Rory Robert Olsen

Judge Rory Robert Olsen spent eighteen years practicing probate law in Harris County before being first elected to Probate Court Number Three in 1998. His J.D. from Duke University, his M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from Southern Methodist University make him unusually well qualified for his position. Judge Olsen’s court is very well managed, thanks to the modern docket control procedures that he installed to help him manage his caseload efficiently. In addition to efficiency, education has been one the hallmarks of his time on the bench. A decade ago, Judge Olsen began a continuing legal education program for lawyers who represent mental health patients in his court. In addition, he has taught at the National Judicial College and at the University of Houston Law Center. He is also a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars dealing with probate. Judge Olsen and his wife, Patricia, belong to Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church. They have a daughter who is a CPA in Dallas.
