Judge Randy W. Wilson is a sixth generation Texan. He attended public school in Ft. Worth and received his B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1974 in Government.Judge Wilson attended law school at the University of Houston, where he graduated first in his class in 1977. He was an editor of the Houston Law Review and a member of the championship International Moot Court team.
Following graduation from law school, Judge Wilson was a founding partner at Susman Godfrey L.L.P. where he remained until 2003. There, Wilson handled a wide variety of commercial and personal injury disputes, and became board certified in civil trial law in 1988. The legal directory Chambers USA selected Wilson as one of the top 20 leading commercial litigators in Texas in 2003. He was an adjunct professor of law in Ethics & Professional Responsibility at the University of Houston College of Law. He further served on the District 4-F Grievance Committee in Harris County, responsible for disciplining attorneys.
On March 26, 2003, Governor Rick Perry appointed Wilson as judge of the 157th District Court of Harris County. Judge Wilson was selected as Trial Judge of the Year by TACTAS, the Texas Association of Civil Trial & Appellate Specialists in 2009. LawDragon, a National Legal Directory, selected Judge Wilson as one of the 500 leading judges in America. Judge Wilson is consistently rated one of the top trial judges in Houston by the Houston Bar Association.
Judge Wilson is active in the community. He is an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Houston and was member of the Board of Directors of the Star of Hope for 9 years, where he served as Secretary and Chairman of the Development Committee. He previously was on the board and President of LifeHouse of Houston, a Christian maternity home. Judge Wilson has been married for 36 years; he and his wife have 3 children, all graduates of Texas A & M University.
