In an activist ruling today, a week before we celebrate our nation's founding, the United States Supreme Court dealt a blow to the ideals of life and liberty set out in the Declaration of Independence.
The Court struck down common-sense Texas law that protected women's health by requiring facilities and doctors that perform abortions to meet basic health care standards. This is a sad outcome given the need to ensure women receive safe health care in a culture that increasingly places little value on life, including the innocent life of unborn children.
As Justice Thomas articulated in his dissent, this is a victory for no one, and a loss for America. It is also a stark reminder of the importance of electing a Republican President this year who will appoint principled constitutional conservatives to the Supreme Court who follow the law, and don't create their own.
The Harris County Republican Party Headquarters was host to the High School Republicans of Texas State Convention on Monday as well! Over 50 students from around the state gathered in Houston to hear from elected officials, hold their elections and mingle with fellow conservatives. If you are looking for evidence that the party is growing and becoming younger you need to look no further than the room of committed, young conservatives who make up this great organization.
On Monday, June 6th, HCRP hosted the Annual Luncheon with Chairman Paul Simpson and Special Guest Congressman John Culberson. This luncheon is one of the many perks that we offer to our donors for their support of the Harris County Republican Party. Members of the HCRP Grassroots Club,Foundation Club and Cornerstone Club gathered to enjoy lunch and hear about the current affairs of the Party. We would like to thank all of those who support the party both financially and with their time and effort as well as Congressman Culberson for being a part of the luncheon.
On Monday, May 16, the Harris County Republican Party Executive Committee approved 37 new Precinct Chairs! Judge Dan Hinde of the 269th Civil Court administered the oath of office to these new chairs, who are eager to help defeat Democrats in November. This was one of the biggest incoming groups of Precinct Chairs to date. These new Precinct Chairs come from all over Harris County, spanning virtually every Senate District. Kudos go to the Vacancy Committee members who have devoted many hours interviewing candidates, including many late nights of hard work. They exemplify the dedication and determination we need to keep growing the Republican Party!

HCRP is hosting volunteer deputy voter registrar trainings in our headquarters in our efforts to build and army of Republicans who are eligible to register voters. The staff from the Tax Office that hosted our most recent training said it was possibly the largest training they had ever hosted. HCRP will be hosting these trainings around the county each month in our Headquarters and each of our satellite offices.
