A lot is going on around the county where we can make our voices heard.
First, tomorrow the Houston City Council will be voting on the largest water rate hike in 17 years that will increase the rate 47 percent over the next six years. Even if you don’t live in Houston, this will probably impact you, too, since most of the small cities in Harris County buy their water from Houston. Councilmen Knox and Councilman Travis have asked for our help to get the word out. Please call or email Mayor Turner and all City Council members and ask them to vote “no.” Click here for the Mayor’s and Council’s contact information.
Secondly, even though a bill was passed that Governor Abbott signed into law that bans the teaching of Critical Race Theory, parents still need to be vigilant. A group of parents are speaking Thursday at the Cy-Fair ISD Board meeting in support of the ban of Critical Race Theory. For more information about this contact Bill Ely, wi*******@***il.com.
Third, although only the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) representatives will be voting on the new Chair of the Republican Party of Texas in July, Toni Anne Dashiell is hosting a virtual debate with the candidates this Friday, July 25 at 7am. Click here to sign up the Zoom event.
Lastly, we are ordering more door hangers for you to use when you are recruiting workers in your precinct. The good news is we have almost used all of the 5,000 door hangers we provided you in May. Great job!

In preparation for the 2021-2022 Elections, we need to submit a list of election workers to Harris County. Please note that Harris County has a countywide polling system. So not every precinct chair will able to work your own precinct, if there isn’t a polling place within your boundaries. But we will try to have you placed in an area of your preference. Precinct Chairs must complete this form ASAP.
