Even though the slow days of summer have started, you would not know that by the activities and work of all of the Harris County Republican Party committees. I want to highlight some of the work being done this week and next.
Last weekend, the Training and Development Committee worked with a group of Precinct Chairs and volunteers to block walk to help J.T. Thomas get elected to Pasadena City Council Position E. J.T. is one of the candidates endorsed by HCRP (via the vetting done by the Local Committee) for the past May 1st election. He’s in a runoff with early voting going on now and the actual election on June 15th. We are also conducting a phonebank on his behalf and will be texting voters this week and next to remind them to vote for J.T. The Training and Development Committee will continue through the summer block walking in various precincts as part of their Ground Fire “in-the-precinct/on-the-job” training and to build our party.
The Ballot Security Committee with the help of their Election Integrity Brigade is actively recruiting election workers and poll watchers for the 2022 elections and is also working with volunteers to review the voter rolls for inaccuracies. The Candidates Committee sponsored a candidates’ training session for people interested in running for office or helping with campaigns a few weeks ago for a sellout crowd. Lastly, the Engagement Committee is hosting a happy hour to celebrate Juneteenth (see notice below) and support locally owned black businesses and will participate in a Juneteenth festival on Saturday, June 19th.
As you can see, a lot is going on with our local party and our committees. More to follow next week…
Warm Regards,
Cindy Siegel

Harris County Republican Party

Training & Development Committee Events
Ground Fire
Ground Fire is a Training & Development Committee Program for “in-the-precinct / on-the-job” training, where we canvass precincts for Precinct Chairs and volunteers, teaching new precinct chairs some of the best practices, processes and lessons learned. This is a great opportunity to learn, and at the same time build our base, our ground game and help Republicans win again.
Ground Fire GOTV Canvassing on Saturday, June 19, 9:30AM – 2:00PM
We are targeting known Republican doors only, helping the new Precinct Chair build his precinct team, and recruiting neighboring precinct chairs. This event is much more democrat that Pasadena, but again, our primary objective is to reach out to know Republicans. Precinct 698 is the center of our targeted area. It is a strong Democrat precinct (84% Democrat, 60% turnout overall). So our mission is very focused on the limited Republican doors. The mission will require driving, since the few Republicans likely do not live on the same street. We will begin at a to-be-announced location at 9:30AM, for assignments (we will group in pairs) and instructions and begin canvassing at 10AM. We target completion by 2PM latest, and will have a to-be-announced meetup location, possibly a late lunch, for an after action review and improvement discussion. Please RSVP to Precinct Chair 124, Bill Ely at wi*******@***il.com to get more details, but also to help plan for logistics, maps and canvassing books.
