HOUSTON — On November 10, 2023, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo held a press conference in her official capacity as County Judge. The official press conference quickly turned into a political rally, as she attacked Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg and endorsed her opponent in the Democratic primary, George Soros-funded Sean Teare. 

As a result, the Texas Ethics Commission (TEC) recently fined her $500 for violating section 255.003 of the election code.

“Every couple of weeks, Lina seems to find herself in some sort of new scandal, usually centered around corruption,” said Harris County GOP Chairman Cindy Siegel.

“Time and time again, Hidalgo proves to Harris County voters that she is unfit for office. Frankly, given her past corruption accusations, I don’t believe the $500 fine imposed by the TEC goes far enough. 

This incident isn’t a one-off situation. When the only notable track record an elected official can point to centers around corruption, they should resign. We’re at that point with Lina.”
